What do you value MORE than God?

This post is just a teaser of more to come……

(even though that sounded ridiculous, it’s true…..ridiculously true)

BUT, here are a few questions to ask ourselves in preparation…..

(if you trust that maybe something IS to come)

Do we have things in life that we value more than God?

Do we actually have to ask ourselves that question?

Do we spend our time on anything, ANYTHING, more than we spend it on God?

Do we spend our $$$$$ on anything, ANYTHING, more than we spend it on God?

Is there anything in our lives that are worth more to us than God?

Is there a way we can prove that there isn’t?

Is our everyday life filled with many more things than God?

Is our everyday life filled with any ONE thing more than God?

Might it be possible that those things, that thing, is what makes us who we are?

Might it be possible that, that very thing, those very things are the very reason God made us who we are?

Might it be possible that the things we value so much are the very reason we should value HIM?

Might it be possible that the time, $$$$$, efforts, etc. we spend on the many things (or one thing) other than God isn’t a bad thing but actually the bad thing is that we do it with out the realization that HE is why they even exist, making it the very reason we should value HIM in them, not necessarily extract them from our lives?????

Confused? Nah, just think on ’em for a bit if you would…..

This Generation is in need of something that changes their idea of what is and isn’t valuable, why the value exists, and how valuable that truth really is behind just that…..

Stay tuned…..

To Be Continued…..

“I don’t like my calling, can I get another one”?

No matter what we’re called to do it always seems we find a way to desire something else, something different or even just a twist on what we’re truly called to do, a “distorted version of what is supposed to be the clear plan that God has for us”.

Maybe not you, maybe you’re completely content with exactly where you’re at…..but was there ever a time when you tried SOMETHING else, or maybe looked at SOMEONE else and thought, “oh that would be perfect for me, I wish I could do that, or be that, or have that as my calling”?

Was there ever a time where you thought “I don’t like my calling, can I get another one”?

For many of us, no matter how great our calling may be we’ve found a way to “be little” it, or tried to twist it a bit.

For me personally, I’ve had times where I thought maybe, just maybe, God’s called me to be an “artist”, not JUST a “worship leader”, and stepped outside the church and desired the worldly side of entertainment, even if I justified it by “having a heart for reaching”, even if, I so believed I could get out and use what God has put inside me to get to those outside the church, even if it WAS with good intentions, GREAT intentions…..it never worked!!!

It never worked because being JUST a “worship leader” was possibly one of the dumbest thoughts that ever ran through my simple mind…..

It never worked because what I have inside me, the gifting, the talent, the anointing, the CALLING is all HIS and with out HIM I am nothing…..

It never worked because that’s not what HE has planned for ME, called ME to do, be, or desire…..

Many out there are called outside the church, and it IS exactly where God has called them to be…..not me…..

So why is it that I would want those things and not the AMAZING calling that I have right in front of me???

Why is it that my calling at times “wasn’t good enough” for me???

Is it because the enemy, in any way, shape or form is always out to distort, to disguise, to disillusion our view of what we should be doing???

Is it because if he can twist our view of Christ in us and what He has for us even just a bit, he wins…..or thinks he wins???

Is it because if we’re just a little outside of where we’re supposed to be, than the effects of our impact might be lessened???

Is it because if we’re not where we’re supposed to be than quite possibly the one who is in the spot we’re supposed to be might be also just a little outside of where they’re supposed to be causing many little distortions of what is supposed to be???

Dear Lord, what is supposed to be? Is there even a supposed to be? Isn’t it up to us how we “make our way”? Isn’t it our choice?

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

It is up to us! It’s up to us to seek out His plan! It’s up to us to submit to His purpose! It’s up to us to desire His heart and in turn find fulfillment in our own!

It’s up to us to see the greatness of who God has called us individually to be and realize that EVERYONE’S calling IS great, no matter what it is, how it works, where it works, how many recognize it, how great it SEEMS in the eyes of others, especially ourselves!

Let’s be the generation that celebrates EVERYONE’S calling from the seen to the unseen and steps into who we are individually, to make who we are collectively unstoppable!!!

“Special 2 Me”

Every place I’ve ever gotten the opportunity to worship at holds a place in my heart, and really I mean EVERY. When you GET to lead people into worship you see lives changing on the spot and that is never not special! BUT there are a few places that hold a “special” place in my heart and Generate @ Crossroads Church in Corona, CA is one of em!

Why……..?

I’ll give you 5 reasons:

1. They genuinely love the next generation and are building them to lead the future

2. I’ve been blessed to be a small part here and there for 5 years now

3. So many of my close and even best friends are involved and/or on staff (or have been in the past)

4. My little brother Jony is there 🙂

5. Just because

There are a few more like Generate out there but today, they’re special……

Threepeat

Three things that ring out when looking at how to continue to do life day after day and as best as possible not burning bridges, not losing friendships, respect, trust, you name it, have to be repeated!

Honesty

Humility

Integrity

Be honest about YOU, where YOU’ve been, what YOU’ve done, what makes YOU who YOU are. “What you do in the secret place WILL be shouted from the house tops”! I’d rather be open about my nasty self from the get-go than having to always clean up rumors, gossip, or even truths that have been exposed by others. Most of the time when people see honesty, if they’re heart is right and led by Jesus they are much more willing to let the guard down and build trust. Whether that’s becoming a part of a team, getting a job or just building a lasting relationship. BUT, just because you’re honest about YOU doesn’t mean you have to be running around honest about everyone else, or worse yet, throwing in someones face what THEY need to change or what YOU don’t like about THEM.

Humility is always a tough one, most people think humility is just an act of being humble when really, in my humble opinion :), humility is more so “walking in confidence” of who’s in you. Knowing that you are who you are, have what you have and can do what you can do is ALL because of the creator puts just a bit of a different realization in our tiny minds. It makes ME think, “uhhh well without Him those little gifts, talents, favor, etc. are GONE, then what”, who am I….???? Knowing that whatever is great in you is because of Him is a sure way to never take the credit, absorb the glory, or steal the show……He is great, we are, to let ALL know that.

My Dad had this one thing that he said to us growing up and as simple as it is I try my bestest to live by it, “no matter what someone else does, it doesn’t negate your responsibility to do the right thing”! The “right thing” is always up for interpretation, maybe it just seems that way, maybe it’s a solid truth, maybe not, but I do believe that the “right thing” can be different at different times and one who has integrity finds it at ANY time.

Repeat these three things and the least it’ll do is up your chances of doin life maybe a bit better than before….or if you already live by them than repeat, repeat, repeat……..
